Your Brain

Programming a Supercomputer

Your brain is probably the most complex supercomputer on the planet and it needs you to program it. From the time you wake up to the time you drift off into dreamland, you are in control of your brain and what it sees, hears, and learns. As the owners of these super machines, we are responsible for what we put into them for later use. As such, it is extremely important for our well being to make sure we are creating code that will enhance our lives and the lives of those around us.

Have you ever had a day where everything just went south and you struggled to get through the day? Think back to what you thought after each outcome or setback. Did you say something like "Well that was stupid" or "Good job dumbass"? You just told yourself, your computer, that you are stupid. You wrote that code. The next time you come up against that scenario you will automatically remember the feelings of failure and have a harder time getting through the situation.

I have a weight issue. I know it and I work hard at keeping it in control. I used to say things like "I need to get my fat ass off the couch" and "I'm going to take my fat ass to the store." I was writing code telling my brain I was fat. This made my fight even harder than it is now. I changed my thought process and started writing new code. My outlook improved and I started getting out more to hike and shoot photos for my portfolio. I feel better because I took ownership and control of what my brain was hearing. I still have cookies every once in a while, but now it is one or two instead of a sleeve (damn Girl Scouts).

I recently started listening to Gary Vaynerchuck, also known as Garyvee. This guy is a machine. He has had his fair share of failures, but he has learned from them and started several endeavors that have become successful and made him wealthy and influential. One of the first things I heard him say was."You are in control." Boom! That was vindication for me taking the path I am currently on. He also said, "Everything is my fault." By taking this stand, he has been able to take ownership of everything in his life. He programmed his computer and made it easier for him to succeed.

One of the practices I employ daily is meditation. I find a quiet spot and sit on the floor. I cross my legs and rest my hands on my knees. When I close my eyes, I block out the world and focus on hearing my heartbeat and my breathing, actually hearing air enter and exit my lungs. I get out of my own head for five minutes and allow my brain to reboot. By doing this, I am able to "overwrite" the bad "files" I have put in my code with positive uplifting words.

I used to fly by the seat of my pants and take it as it comes. That line of thinking led me to several bad outcomes. By taking ownership, I become stronger and less likely to encounter the situations I had in the past with a sense of failure, thus allowing me to be stronger and have more of a positive impact on my little corner of the world. That little corner grows the more we feed it with positive thoughts and words and our global impact becomes greater. We are better able to enhance others lives through positive affirmation.

Feed your super machine with positive code and you will begin to see positive outcomes because you will start making positive decisions that will in turn create a stronger you that is able to conquer whatever obstacles fall into your path.
