Who Is the 'Negative One'

Is society the cynic or could it really be just our attitude?

Majority of times, its easy to blame society for our negative attitudes and avoidance of human interaction, but its possible that, as individuals, we have really just labeled everyone as a pessimist without realizing that we have become the pessimist. Yes, the media, the school bully and higher ups have built an irrefutable system of who is the best and who isn't, but that doesn't give us the excuse to think that anyone with a nicer watch or stuck up face is actually what they seem.

To Care or Not to Care...

I have been with friends, family members and even the most positive of people who have just given up on caring about society and the way it is going. How? How do we just give up on our species? How can we let ourselves just walk past each other and think negatively on how one presents themselves and criticize, without considering what they might be going through?I personally avoid the news because it saddens me knowing there is so much negativity and evil in humanity, but when I walk past a human on the street, I still smile at them. I still greet them even though its now considered so strange and possibly even disturbing, again, because of what is on the news, but I still truly believe that society has a thin sliver of hope to turn around and make a change, not only in society, but in themselves.

It's probably you.

It sounds cliche to think with the 'lets be positive' mentality but its what we really need. It always starts with one, whether its a positive or negative movement, it begins with one. Unfortunately, we don't want to do the work, or we are afraid or what others will say because its unexpected. As humans, we fear judgement and isolation. I know because I still find myself struggling with this side of me. But I am learning that who I am is not going to be everyone's idea of a friend or acquaintance, and that's ok. What matters is that I will be positive, kind and with an optimistic attitude; it will make a difference with at least one person who needs someone like me.

People will always 'blah, blah.'

If there is one thing I've learned about humans, its that we really like to play judge. We see this everywhere, and I mean everywhere; among your friends, in your family, a person you just met for five seconds. It. Is. Everywhere. It may seem like an even bigger reason to view the world in a negative way, but its not. Its more like this, if people are going to talk, mine as well it be something that is beneficial to someone who needs it. Who knows, maybe they will finally come around and be a positive influence too. I think its also important to keep in mind that situations and relationships in life will not take place the way we expect them to. Sometimes we and others go through hills and valleys that make them have a somewhat, bleak outlook in life, so don't be so demanding on how you want others to react to who you are.

In the end, what matters is how you decide to respond to the people's views and opinions. We can't expect everything to be fixed in a snap because you want it. Every single good thing takes time, work and an optimistic attitude.

Keep on living, be a kind human, and wear your happiness with confidence.
