When Excuses Stop

Do you want to be successful?

It feels like my life hasn't gone far from high school. I know I'm not the only one who feels like this either. I wonder if it's just me making excuses not to do something or if I haven't come across any good opportunities yet.

I've been ready to move across the country and live in a camper, even out of a car if I had to. But I have passed up plenty of other opportunities. Opportunities that make me feel like I will turn stagnant or stationary scare me away. I can't stand the idea of working where I don't want to. But those things are temporary. I want freedom. We all know that takes sacrifices though. Without sucking up the dread of some 9-5 job for awhile, we might not get anywhere.

My excuse was that I couldn't commit. I'm a self-employed cleaner with tons of job opportunities just passing me by. I could have started my own business by now. I've been cleaning for 3 years now with the intent of it being temporary. It took me that long to finally take the leap and branch out. And let me tell you. I. Hate. Cleaning. Especially when it's the same thing every week. But if I want to get to where I want to be, I have to suck it up and stop making excuses. It's time to make things happen.

Success comes when excuses stop. I've passed up so many opportunities because "it wasn't for me". I want to punch myself for that now. A lady I clean for even mentioned to me, if I didn't want to clean, I could start a cleaning business and eventually it could be running itself. That is advice from a successful person.

One thing I learned recently was, not to take advice from people who struggle with money. Boy is that true. What do they really know if they struggle so much to make ends meet? You need to plug your ears when people are trying to give you that kind of advice who struggle themselves. It won't help.

Learn. Go follow successful people on whatever media platform you use and absorb everything they have to say. The biggest thing I hear is, stop making excuses.

It isn't about the money. It's about the freedom. The only thing I wanted to do when I got out of high school was travel. Why do we all feel the need to be stuck in college and/or some 9-5 dead end job till the day we retire? The 50s are over and life is expensive. I want to live now.

There. Is. No. Reason. I. Can't.

Any entrepreneur is capable of making money from nothing but their own knowledge. I like to call myself one but sometimes I feel like I'm lacking the creative and resourcefulness that it takes to be an entrepreneur. And then I remind myself that all I have to do is learn. If I am not one already, I will be.

I am still on the path of ridding my replies of excuses. It's easy to do what we're comfortable with. It's easy to say no because you might miss some awesome event. It's easy to say no when you just want more free time. But what do you want more? Actual free time? Or a little free time in between dreadful jobs?

Our lives will reflect what we strive for. All our dreams are different and all of our expectations too. I'm going to go for my dreams and you should too. Lets stop the excuses and live the lives we were intended to.
