Live Fearlessly

You start pre-kinder then it’s 7th grade and before you know it you’re graduating high school. All our lives we’re expected to live by a timeline. You start school at a certain age and begin college at another but why? Why do we follow this as if it’s the only way we will survive? Life nowadays doesn’t even have meaning. Maybe because I’m becoming an adult or because people are living but not actually living. We live to die but what is all in between matters. It is who you are. Every good deed you did, every mistake you made and all the risks you took, it is all you. So instead of just living to survive, live to feel alive.

About a month ago I finished college, pretty cool right? “What an accomplishment” everyone says. But do you want the raw and honest truth behind it? I’m twenty, two almost three years out of high school and getting my degree doesn’t make me feel any different. Less stressed maybe but I don’t feel as if I achieved anything great. Quite frankly, I feel relieved to be out of school and able to breathe a little better. College is draining and sure it’s great that I expanded my knowledge in the kitchen. I gained skills I did not have 2 years ago, but for some odd reason, I feel as if it is not enough. The generation and world we live in sets so many standards and everyone is expected to meet them. We’re all expected to know what is supposed to happen next. We’re supposed to know which job to choose, what kind of house to live in, what salary we want and which car to drive. Do all these things even matter though? How are we expected to know all these things right off the back? It’s stressful and overwhelming and the saying “I don’t want to adult today” couldn’t be more perfect for this situation.

I wish we had more of a choice to do this “life” thing. I mean we do, but sometimes it’s not the choice we’d really want to choose and that.. well that really sucks. We’re all obligated to get jobs and pay bills for the rest of our lives but what if that didn’t even exist? What if we didn’t have to live life followed by a timeline? There are actually no set rules stating you have to go to college or get a job right after that. Life can be lived in so many different ways but we’re too afraid. We’re too afraid of failing to even try. But don’t you get it? Life was created for failure, because it is the only way to prosper. We weren’t meant to live in fear, we were made to live free. But living free is scary because who is going to want to risk so much in life to have fun? And money? It is an issue, because without it we’re nothing. People always say, “Money doesn’t buy everything”, but it does. We work to pay for necessities and wants. Without money, we would live on the streets with the only clothes on our backs, maybe a blanket if we're lucky. Why? Why do we let this happen? There is a fine line between living in fear and being fearless. Now I’m not saying if you want to live a fun life, you’ll go broke, but you’ll have to choose. Big beautiful home or beautiful destinations that you’ll never forget. I challenge you to find the fine line and conquer it. Don’t be afraid to live the life you want to live. We only get one chance at doing this... don’t follow a timeline, create your own.
