The New Year

How committed are we?

It's that time of the year again!

I have mixed feelings every time the year comes to an end.

It's exciting if you have had a crappy year because most of us are looking for redemption, so we pump ourselves up for the new year thinking this year will solve all our problems. Am I right? Or is this just me?

So I usually spend all December planning out how I'm going to accomplish all my supposed goals, and I wait until the 1st to arrive.

The morning of the 1st:

The alarm goes off at some early hour, I hit snooze, roll back over and sleep.

The alarm continues to go off every 10 mins until I turn it off officially.

This goes on for at least an hour.

I continue to sleep in until around noon, where I regret to look at the clock.

I then find some way to talk myself into "starting my new routine" the next day.

This repeats for about a week.

I then feel even less motivated to jump start my New Year resolutions that I become temporarily depressed about it.

Later I talk myself into starting everything on the 1st of Feb.

That brings me here, I do this exact back and forth dance every year with my resolutions.

Frankly, I'm annoyed by my lack of commitment, and in the past, I have blamed it on not having a work out buddy. Well, this year is going to be different!

How do I know?

I know because I had a baby recently for the first time, and I have never needed to get back into shape than I do NOW!

That is pretty motivating!

I spent the last three-to-four months recovering from a pretty brutal birth, so I am ready to start feeling normal again.

On a side note, I've decided I don't need a work out partner, as much as I'd love one, I'm going to do this solo!

I will be actually getting up before noon this time, and I will be doing this every day for two weeks.

How committed are we? Depends on the person, depends on the situation. The question I'm about to find out is how committed I really am.

I'm about to find out during these next two weeks.

Beachbody is offering a 14-day trial, so I figure why not?

They are the ones who do PX90, and Insanity, I mean those are hardcore workouts with amazing results. I won't be doing those exact workouts per se, but I'm the kind of person to jump in head first, so let's do this!

I am going to be checking in and recording my 14 days here, so stay tuned. Stay tuned for the results! Wish me luck, as I am not a morning person.

Day 1: Feeling Motivated

Here we go! Day one!

I don't think I slept at all last night, besides the fact I was up until 1A.M. with the baby, it felt like I was aware of every little noise, that and my brain wouldn't shut off.

My alarm goes off, my eyes POP open, and I SPRING out of bed.

The clock on the cable box reads 6:35 AM.

I searched out a workout program last night so I am ready to jump into it!

I chose to do a smaller routine today since I haven't worked out since before my pregnancy. A 15-minute dance routine with Shaun T.

The routine didn't feel like dancing rather just a lot of marching and sidestepping.

It definitely got my heart rate going, because I stayed consistent and didn't stop for any breaks.

I don't feel like I overdid it, which is good because I don't want to be sore or make tomorrow harder than it has to be.

After my workout, I felt awake and energized.

I will push a little harder each day, tomorrow will be a 25-minute workout.

My goal is to try something different each day.

I read somewhere once that mixing up routines are good for the muscles, but I can't remember why, unfortunately.

After my Shaun T experience, I took my dog for a 40-minute walk.

I have a health track app on my phone I use to record how far I walk. It's been a while since I've used it, and today when I opened the app there were some upgrades in features.

One being a "Global Challenge" which means anyone with this app can join in on the fun. The end goal being healthier obviously, but also to reach 200000 steps in less than 18 days, recommending the daily steps be around 6000. Sounds intriguing and I think I'm going to add this to my 14-day workout routine.

I will be back at this tomorrow, I will record my daily steps at the end of my day.

Hope the motivation stays with me, wish me luck!
