Do you know what your birth chart says? Or, do you even know what a birth chart is? Your birth chart is based off of the time, location, and date of your birth. At the time when you were born, every planet and star and thing up there in the universe was in a specific place. Doesn't seem like it matters, but it absolutely does. Your birth chart displays where all those planets and stuff were, and this contributes to the magic that is your personality.

If you'd like to learn more about birth charts, feel free to send me an email at [email protected] or visit my Tumblr page! Right now, I'm completing sample chart readings for free—covering your sun, moon, and rising signs, as well as the planets in your first three houses.

Every birth chart has 12 houses. These are the 12 houses (of the zodiac... I guess), and each house symbolizes something different. I've decided to start a series where I talk about each house of the zodiac, to help everyone learn a little more about themselves! Check out my profile for all of the articles on the houses!

The 3rd house of the zodiac shows how you communicate and the way you approach knowledge. Learning more about this house can help you to discover the way you think and how you gather information about your surroundings.

If you haven't already gotten your birth chart, I encourage you to go to astro.com and enter your information. The chart is completely free, and it shows you all of your signs and planets and placements. Once you've done that, follow along with me while we explore the second house!

This is my birth chart...

As you can see in the picture, there are little numbers on the inside of the circle, near the middle. You'll notice that each number matches a section, and there are little symbols in there. Each section represents a house, and the symbols represent planets. Use the box on the left side to match the images with the planets if you don't already know!

If you're following along with me (and I'm explaining it right), you should be able to tell that my second house has three planets—Jupiter, Neptune, and Uranus.

DISCLAIMER: I have gained this information from various sources on the internet. If you see something in here that may be yours and you would like it removed, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected].

Sun in the 3rd house: It's important for you to know what your community thinks of you, as you're closely connected to your hometown. You are a voice for your community and a leader among your friends. Friends are very important to you and you're close with them.

Moon in the 3rd house: You mostly express yourself emotionally and verbally. You tell people how you feel and you feel tied to your community. You may be influenced by your mother, who was very witty but maybe a little crazy.

Mercury in the 3rd house: You have a quick mind, so you can feel like a genius and also a bit bipolar all at once. You want to articulate everything as you were encouraged to talk as a child.

Venus in the 3rd house: When you were a child, you were encouraged to cultivate talent, so you have a love of the arts. You want art to seep into your relationships and others enjoy listening to what you have to say.

Mars in the 3rd house: You are very forceful, as the ability to express yourself on your own terms may have been bullied out of you by a parent or other authoritative figure. You get defensive even if no one is opposing you, and you eat your words a lot.

Jupiter in the 3rd house: You love writing and speaking, and you're good at it too, but you may never get better. You assume that you've peaked or you don't need any help, but don't assume you're the best just because it's easy. You take pride in your work and community.

Saturn in the 3rd house: As you were growing up, you may have believed that you were stupid or that what you had to say was unimportant. This probably resulted in you having a hard time expressing yourself, and now you work on communicating.

Uranus in the 3rd house: You had an unconventional upbringing where you moved around a lot, so you may not have made a lot of friends growing up. You desire roots, but you find it hard to stay in one place for too long.

Neptune in the 3rd house: Remember that your own voice is the most important. You may try to escape into communities that aren't necessarily real, and you may take the ideas of others as your own.

Pluto in the 3rd house: You may have been damaged by your upbringing or things that have happened in your past. You tend to keep to yourself. You must overcome the gear inside of you, as this keeps you from going out into the world and expressing your personal opinions.

Chiron in the 3rd house: Your life's crisis may involve communication and personal mastery. You may be very good at teaching and communicating, but you may also have some problems with discrimination. Your siblings are important to you and you learn by trial and error.

True Node in the 3rd house: You need to work on your communication and mental abilities. You love freedom and independence, but this side of you will fade as you become more responsible, mature, and adaptable.

With an empty 3rd house, you won't focus much of your energy on building connections with the world around you, or learning much about it.

A stellium occurs when there are four or more planets in the same house. With a stellium in the 3rd house, you may find it hard to relax mentally, and a formal education would benefit you greatly.

There's always more to learn! The signs on the outer ring of each house also play a part in determining your personality, and I include those readings in my birth charts readings! Thanks for reading and come back next time to learn about the 4th house!
