Taking a Nature Trip

Sometimes we all just need to feel a little more grounded.

All you need is a little nature.

This post will be a fairly short one, to appreciate and spread my love for wildlife. I hope you enjoy 😁🌲🌲

I've found myself having days where nothing seems to go right, feeling stressed to the max and having my head full of unforseen, unrealistic scenarios that really shouldn't be an issue at all.

I have this issue where I over worry. About absolutely everything. (And I mean everything, I'm not exaggerating one bit.) I catch myself stressed more than not, worrying about a list of problems, rushing around to get everything in order, and working on the daily.

Half the time, it takes something small. Something so unimportant that it's laughable. The hair that breaks the elephants back can set me off for days. Sometimes, the busy hustle and bustle of the city or even just people in general can be overwhelming. And that's OKAY.

Some of us are flockers. Some of us want to be around everyone. Some want to be social and in on the latest fads, while others tend to stand back and observe, just to inevitably sneak off to do their own thing.

Some of us are antisocial, would already rather be off in the woods camped away or hiking in the mountains, getting as distant from humans as possible.

Be you a flocking social star or a quiet adventurous soul, treat yourself with a trip outside. Stress comes in all shapes and sizes. It is up to you to take care of your mind, body, and soul. You don't have to be around others to be tense or out of tune with yourself. It happens when it happens.

And when it happens, remedy #1: Nature

(At least for me.)

Something about the vivid greens and abundant plant life helps me to feel safe and grounded. It brings me back to earth and helps me to decloud my foggy brain. Luckily for me, I reside in upstate NY, completely surrounded with woods and hiking areas. You just have to be willing to look.

Even if you don't have a precise idea on location or what you plan to do, you can always bet on nature to help you find your way. If you want to feel grounded, back on earth, take off your shoes and let the energy from the ground flow through you. Connect with the soil under your toes, lay on the ground and feel the vibrations. If water is your main goal, follow a stream. If you simply want to study algae and fungi, just look around. Look at your feet, near the decaying tree stumps. If you want to feel like you can touch the sky, find the sturdiest tree around and climb. And if you want to study insects, turn over the nearest decent sized rock or get close to the ground and focus on the the details. If there are little ant tunnels, look for beetles.

There are more answers to be found than you would imagine. Close your eyes and focus in on the hum of the living organisms, the wildlife. Breathe in the clean air and relax.

We are all coexisting with each other, living underneath the same sun as the trees, the lizards, momma bears and racoons alike. Even if the area you live in doesn't exactly have forests or an abundance of streams and hiking spots, you can make your own adventure and find your own ways to reconnect with the earth.
