Recipe for Success

Just add vanilla.

Success is not necessarily easy, but I feel like the recipe is rather simple. I will share my personal idea on what it takes to achieve your greatest desires in a nutshell. Let’s go over the ingredients of this tasty recipe:

  1. Vanilla extract.
I’m joking. ;)
  1. Discipline
  2. Positive attitude
  3. Gratitude

Let’s start off with the most challenging ingredient in my opinion, and that would be discipline.

Discipline is the ability to give yourself a command, and then follow through. Example: "I am waking up at 5 AM and I will be out on my feet at 5 AM."

Then comes the lovely sound of that alarm clock going off at... 5 AM, and you’re up! That’s an example of discipline. The key to following through with the commands you give yourself is to remind yourself that the sacrifice you are making is for the greater good of your own development. If being successful was easy, everyone would do it, right? Sacrifice is not such a bad thing, and by giving up that extra time sleeping, you are gaining so much. You gain motivation, confidence, momentum, ambition, and drive—honestly, the list goes on. I would trade an hour or two of sleep for the amount accomplished in that extra time, any day.

Did you know that one hour a day for 52 weeks a year is NINE EXTRA 40-HOUR WEEKS a year?

Discipline is something that needs to be developed. The challenge is real, but the rewards—the rewards are beyond worthy. I feel like when you’re exercising discipline, you should take note, and reward yourself for doing things right. This makes the process a lot more enjoyable, and it helps to cause you to remain committed.

So, the second ingredient is a positive mental attitude.

This one is also HUGE. The positive mental attitude is a must have. No matter what your goals or ambitions, are you are bound to experience “fails,” and with the proper attitude and perspective, you can surmount these conditions and ride on triumphantly. When you maintain a positive attitude, you are automatically increasing your chances for success. It is natural to attract better people, experiences, resources, and opportunities because you are in an open, flowing state. This road is less traveled because it’s easy to give into circumstance. It’s easy to blame this and that. It’s easy to settle for a mediocre life. The cost of being negative is really the cost of every good you have yet to find by restricting yourself to a negative and limiting attitude.

And lastly, we have gratitude. I feel like I talk about these topics every day of my life, because they’re so impactful. While you are on your journey, and progressing into bigger and better versions of yourself and your life, it is crucial to give thanks for what you have. Give thanks for the people in your life that are supporting you. Give thanks for the negative and the positive experiences. If we are not grateful for the income, and the home, and the love we have now, how are we ever to evolve and accept greater experiences into our life?

I believe by combining these three ingredients, we have a sure path to follow towards success if we are to stay consistent in our desires—and never stop trying, no matter how difficult it may seem, no matter what L’s we THINK we are taking. Then, without delay, success will be ours. The people who live the way they want came up with a vision and stuck to it. They made the sacrifice, they kept the positivity high, and they did whatever they had to do. They welcomed both rise and fall—and this truly is the recipe for success. Let’s remember nothing in life is free; everything has a price. You can have whatever you are willing to become. As Earl Nightingale says, “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.” This is important because whatever you choose to become, you are trading your life for it. This is true if the ideal is good, bad, or indifferent. So WHY NOT go for the big win?
