Perfectly Imperfect

Brianna Sharp

I am perfectly imperfect. There may be perfect moments, perfect timing, perfect weather, and perfect outfits but a human being is not perfect. I don't think any being is perfect because we all make mistakes. We cry at simple moments whether they're happy, mad or sad tears. We are all our own person.

Every night is a struggle for me. I toss and turn trying to get sleep for once. I can't help but to think those thoughts. You know? Those thoughts that kill your self-esteem and make you think of life like it's absolute crap. Those thoughts that you think of when you're trying to sleep, you can have them during the day as well. It's like a mother trying to control every move you make and still not being good enough.

Everyone needs to know the term 'Perfectly Imperfect.' It means so much and can teach you a lot in one setting. Let's say that someone informs you that you have a big nose. Yeah, you have a big nose. It's one of your imperfections but it's perfect the way it is.

How is what you may be asking? It completes how you look. You are who you are; a beautiful, imperfect being. All your imperfections are what make you perfect. It's because you are a complex human being.

You might be half deaf or even a little to a lot blind. You may be a size eighteen instead of a size six. Have a double chin while texting or have really small hands, which makes you drop your phone on your face all the time while laying down. You know what that makes you? A human being.

So instead of going out of your own way to make others happy, make yourself happy for once. Put on that amazing outfit that you don't think you can pull off. Go out somewhere and dance until your feet give out. If you're the type of person who just wants to stay in bed for a whole day, you lie down and watch that amazing Netflix series you've been probably watching for days. Don't be who others want you to be. Don't be scared to show yourself off for once. Don't be worried about other people staring at your huge nose, if you have one.

We all are so scared to be ourselves that we forget who we are. We forget to appreciate our imperfections because what if one day your really pointy ears are going to save the world? I'm not saying that you do but everyone, including me, needs to take a look at themselves and think of all the good things you do have. The most beautiful eyes, hair, teeth, etc.

It's starting to sound a lot like me being creepy when I brought up the word, teeth, but I promise you all, I'm not.

We all have value and all of us are a little broken inside. Whether we see it or not, we are the most complex, amazing, weird beings I know of. Time to get into the habit of loving ourselves. It is 2k18, of course. Get up and be the most perfectly imperfect person you can be.
