No Place Like Paper

The power of purging the poison within

I read a message once that said,

"Creating helps you listen to yourself. Finding out who you are below the surface. Learning to separate what is yours and what is conditioned through outside influences."

This quote struck me in a profound way. It told me that who we are is a product of many different things. We consist of our environment, and the influence its had on us. We're made up of things we've learned, what we've absorbed, and consumed. Creating lets us get out all the things that are inside.

"The palest ink is better than the sharpest memory." ~Chinese Proverb

I love so many quotes that encourage me to continue writing. What gets written gets done. A dull pencil is better than a sharp mind. Whatever helps you write, whatever helps you think, whatever helps you express yourself. Do the thing, and make a habit to nourish the thing every day.

Fear has no place on paper. When we write, we are creating a bond with our destiny. When we write, it is a form of energy transference. Whether it be negative or positive emotions. When we transfer energy to the paper or page, we get it out. I once listened to Dr. Wayne Dyer give a wonderful analogy on poison.

"No one has ever died from a snakebite." He said, "Snakes bite. That's what they do. But it is not the snakebite that kills you. It is the poison. The venom that resides within you after the snake has already bitten."

You may have taken beatings in life. You may have been stung in life. You may have been wronged or mistreated, but you never have to let that poison sit inside you. When you do, you let it take up space in your mind and body. After a while it takes up residence in your life. By writing on paper, or having an outlet, you can allow the things that bite you to get out of your system. It's like extracting the poison from your body and putting it on paper.

Plugging in

What outlets do you have? Which ones do you enjoy most? I enjoy creating videos and audio. I enjoy writing journals and articles. Something that involves me expressing myself. I enjoy playing music for others. I enjoy inspiring others. I enjoy boxing and exercising. Those are my outlets, but what are yours? If you do not yet know, think awhile, because they may be below the surface.

Many things are deep inside us like that. We may never know they are there until we allow them to rise. Like bubbles in a sea of distraction. Allow your inner self to breathe. Fear has no place on paper. A life worth living is a life worth recording. Document your life and experiences. Be unafraid to express yourself. You never know who could use a lesson or a kind word. Soon your mess will become your message. Your test can become your testimony. Someone you've never met can have their whole life changed and affected by the words you express.

We are all superheroes in our own right. Living in our own worlds with our own trials. Use your outlet to set you free. Plug into your outlet, and let it spark your drive. Not only can that spark free you from your mind. You make it possible for others to light their own candles of creation.
