New Years Resolutions

It's that time of year again, the one where everyone is signing up for gym memberships, buying those new Nike runners from SportChek and setting their new year resolutions higher than probably maintainable. The thing is, everyone does it. Everyone says... "This year, I will be sure to...." and the majority of the time (not always) it never happens. See, I have said for the past at least ten years of my life, every year on December 31st, that it was going to be my year to lose weight. "I will have those abs by college next year." "I will have that beach bod." But did I accomplish that ten years later? No, not at all. After ten years, where I could have been putting in effort, instead, dinner dates with the girls or binge-watching Netflix seemed like such a more attractive idea. I guess the motivation just wasn't there, and I still to this day do not understand why.

I thought maybe the idea of pouring my heart and soul out while on a computer screen may help this. I am starting my new year's resolution, although this year, with an audience. (Imaginary audience at the moment). This will hopefully be the motivation I need to start my journey to a happier life. Yes, hence the cover photo. I am setting my new year's resolution this year, on January 6, 2018, to lose weight, and find myself to be a happier soul with a positive attitude towards as much as possible. I promise this to my audience reading this, and hopefully it will motivate you as well. I will be using this platform to not only pour out my heart and soul as stress relief as it is something many people have told me to do, but I will also be using it as a platform to see where I started today, and where I am one year from now, and if I have met those goals I am setting for myself. So here it is ladies and gentleman, my list of new year's resolutions. Let's see if I get through it:

  • Become a healthy weight for my height. I am currently sitting at 278 pounds, and I am 5'10". A healthy weight range for my height is 173 pounds, so that is my goal by the end of the year.
  • Have a positive attitude towards bad situations, no matter what, or how annoying the situation is. I have a bad temper, so this could be a challenge for me, although, what New Years Resolution isn't.
  • Lose the weight, but the healthy way. I want to update all of you daily on what I ate, what my workout was like, how much I am spending on this journey, etc. Maybe, if I reach my goals, it will help someone else do the same.
  • Travel. I really want to travel this year, and not the usual annual trip to Kenora, Ontario, a province two hours away. Although beautiful, I would really love to travel to Liverpool and ride the ocean-side Ferris wheel, or maybe even Nashville, Tennessee, to visit the city of my favorite show, Nashville.

These are my New Year's Resolutions for now. I guess we will see how this goes for the both of us. I am excited, yet doubtful, but you never know what the world will throw at you so let's give this a go! I will be checking in daily with y'all so that you can follow my journey with me.

We'll talk soon.

XOXO Dana (Yes, I totally watched every season of Gossip Girl.)
