Turn it around

Throughout life, you will face many battles. Some of those battles you will lose and some of those battles you will win, but there's this one battle that we all need to win and that's the battle, "To Win."

No one wants to be a loser; we all love first place.

Now, when you read the first few lines of this piece I'm writing, some of you probably thought by saying, "the battle To Win," I was just talking about the glamorous things in life, and yes, you would be absolutely correct. But I'm also talking about to win within.

See, some of us get caught up in so many things throughout our everyday lives that we forget to take care of ourselves emotionally. For example, some of us say that we want a better relationship with God, that if we had him in our lives we would feel complete and all of our problems would go away. But then ask yourself when was the last time I went to church or maybe even read a book relating to the word of the Lord? When was the last time you actually had a real conversation with him besides getting on your knees asking him for help? Now, if you can relate to this, then keep on reading. This is for you. You can be the wealthiest person in the world and still feel lonely. You can have a $600 hairdo, looking like you just stepped out of an Essence photoshoot, have men lined up a mile long to get a chance, and still feel ugly. These emotions can be due to an inner incompleteness. Everyone needs that inner balance; it's very important. My inner balance used to be way off. I would get so caught up in the outside world that I forgot to do things that I actually loved doing that made me feel good; that made my soul feel at ease. I didn't realize that what I wanted on the outside was what I lacked on the inside, so I thought. (I will explain why I said that in a moment.) I wanted fortune, but I thought I lacked intellect. I wanted love, but never was taught how to love until I felt a love so pure and gentle, which was when I had children. I wanted to flourish in the talents I was blessed with, but thought I lacked confidence. I thought that lacked in confidence, wealth (not nine to five wealth), emotions, and intellect. Until the day I had a real talk with myself. Self-reflection is an amazing thing. See, I knew the reason why I felt like I lacked in all of these things. It was because I wasn't feeding my own inner emotions. That's the part I was telling you about earlier when I said I would explain more. I knew that in order for me to overcome those things I thought I lacked, I had to start feeding my emotions. And I did just that. I started telling myself - every day - you're brave, smart, confident, and much more. I let the negative energy out and sucked in the positive. I overcame my fears, which is one of the reasons why I'm sitting here writing this now. I taught myself that, whether I had the finer things in life or not, either way I can be happy because I didn't want to be one of those people that had everything and was still lonely. I started looking into the things I that enjoyed doing more. Setting timeframes to have goals accomplished, so that my schedule wouldn't get so tied up and I can see progress right where my feet are being planted. I started reconnecting relationships that at one point in time had so much value, but somehow went left. I started meditating, which helps me relax and gain better insight. These things are attached to my emotions, so I nourish them more. Go to the park and just watch the sunset. Play your favorite song every once in a while, and dance around like no other. Take an art class, if you're into it. Every now and then, buy yourself something nice. Curl up under the blanket with a glass of wine and read a book; maybe one that you'd never thought you'd read before. Do whatever you need to do in order to stay connected to your emotions that make you feel good.

When your emotions are good, and whether you believe it or not, you will see major changes. Some changes will be changes that you thought were impossible.

How do you think most millionaires reached success? It wasn't just because they had a brilliant plan or were blessed with extreme talent. It was also their believing in themselves and feeding themselves positive thoughts. That's part of taking care of yourself emotionally. So, don't ever think that emotions don't play a major part of your life because they do...

p.s.

Going through life feeding yourself negative thoughts and emotions isn't good for the mind or soul. Your success depends on how far you're willing to go, so nourish until you can't nourish anymore!!!
