Dear Younger Self,

You may not know who I am yet, but you will in a few years if you don’t take this advice to heart. Life can give you trials and challenges and if you don’t go through them the right way, you can end up in a place that doesn’t have a happy ending. So please, I beg of you, don’t be stubborn right now. Just put down your wall and listen to the advice I have for you. This will help you so much in the future if you take what I have to say to heart.

The older you get, the harder society is on you. Everyone wanting you to be a specific image and if you don’t fit that image you are a mistake. Whatever you do, don’t listen to what they have to say. You are perfect just the way you are. I promise you. It will tear you apart piece by piece until there is nothing left of you if you let it. You are good enough! Never forget that—ever. As soon as you do you will fall into a trap that still to this day I am trying to get out of, believe me. People and challenges will try to knock you down, but stay strong and I know you can fight against it. You’ve been through a lot already, but I know you can make it a lot further than yourself in the future has. You have more potential than you really think at the moment.

Secondly, you don’t need to be so hard on yourself. You may not be perfect right now, and that is okay. You don’t need to be. As humans, we all make mistakes and will continue to make mistakes until we learn to achieve greater. You will fall many times, over and over again, for many different reasons, and there is nothing wrong with that. Life will get you down and push you around, show them that you are greater. Keep your goals high and don’t settle for anything else. You are smart enough and have the ability to make it all the way.

My biggest piece of advice is don’t become friends with people that you don’t truly know. It can ruin your life for a long time and put you into a spiraling downfall. If one of your friends is abusing, tell someone and get out of the situation. You are worth more than those friends will tell you. You have more worth than those friends will ever give to you. Everything they tell you will be lies and are there only to make you doubt everything about yourself. Choose your friends wisely and it can make all the difference. Surround yourself with people that love you and care about you. Having positivity in your life will make your future life so much better. You have the support network around you and all you need to do is lean back against them and trust them. When you need help, don’t be afraid to ask them for help.

Life will be tough, and at times you will feel like you can’t move forward anymore, but the truth is, I know you can. You are here to make your mark and that is what you will achieve. Never forget that you are strong and you are perfect just the way you are. Never give up and keep pushing forward. You got this!

Sincerely,

Your Future Self
