How to Find Purpose in Life
What It Means to Be Alive
I'd like to begin this page by saying if you or a loved one are suffering from depression, please don't hesitate to try calling the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255).
What I'm about to tell you here might be my opinion, but sometimes that's all you need—someone to tell you it's going to be alright, and it will. Life is a complicated, important thing. Many lose it every day, and many take it for granted. But one thing is for sure is that life is a beautiful thing.Whether you just had a love one who passed, you lost your pet, or you had a breakup, know you're not alone. Everyone knows what it feels like to be sad. You wouldn't know how to be happy if you weren't sad, wouldn't know what day is if you've never seen night. I'm not saying you deserve anything negative, because you don't. No one does.
Life is all around us. We are together in this cinema of a world, playing a role in the cosmos. Regardless of what religion you belong to, and unless you're a psychopath, you know life is precious. Your life, and everyone else's.
So how do you find purpose? What is your purpose? What is mine?
Sometimes we find out quickly, others spend their entire life thinking about these questions. The simplest answer I can give you is that life itself is what you choose for it to be. We all play a part as humans, but so does the trees and stars. To find purpose in life, you'll need to find yourself.
You may be confused at this point, telling yourself that you know you are "First name Last name," but I'm not talking about your name, I'm talking about you as a person. When you know yourself, you can't be distracted. You can't be manipulated, influenced. That itself is self-control, and it's also a step closer to understanding your purpose in life.
Your purpose in life is to live. Many things aren't blessed with life, and you're fortunate to have it. Like I said, regardless of religion, live in a way that is peaceful. Be happy, find happiness in anything you can. It's too easy to find things to be envious about, and too easy to have guilt.
Do you have food to eat? Can you walk? Can you speak or hear?
Many people can't do these things, and it's not their fault. My point here is to be humble. There's so much more to life than what meets the eye. You have been blessed the day you were born, while sadness tricks you into thinking you're cursed. Be happy. Love yourself and those around you.May you find your purpose through living, and may you be blessed by the supreme love of the cosmos.
