How Can I Help?

Am I your best option?

Most of the time I sit down to write it's because an idea jumps into my head. The second thing that tends to happen when I sit behind my screen and let my thoughts out is I think about other people.

Do other people feel like I do about *insert topic*? Will anyone get anything out of me sharing this. Even if the answer was no to one, or both, of those questions I would still write. But, when people get something out of it, it hits harder.

Over the past six and a half months I started a podcast about joining people together behind three simple terms, "Be Kind. Be Positive. Be Yourself". It's been an incredible journey that I never imagined would gift me the things I've been fortunate enough to feel. The talks, the connections, the feelings. I've felt new passions wake up inside of me and that's added new fuel to my fire that I call life. I've opened up (a little bit) about my increased levels of anxiety (luckily not persistent), tough times, and I'm in the process of going to counseling to stay on top of my mental health.

But, one thing that always creeps back into my mind is the idea that I may never be the best at all of this.

Giving advice.

Helping the less fortunate.

Loving with all of my heart.

Staying vulnerable when it comes to talking about my feelings.

Going to counseling.

The best part of the last six and half months have, without a doubt, been the connections I've made with other people. People who, in whatever amount, depend on me in one aspect or another. Whether that's deeply serious or me just giving them a different look on a topic.

That has also given me a lot of stress. How do I know if I'm giving them the right advice or guidance? What if I tell them something and it makes them worse off?

After much thought, I came back to the idea that I'm doing the best I can and that in itself helps others.

It's the same with you. For whatever reason you're reading this you have a unique ability to help in one way or another. You may not even know it. You may want to start getting better at helping others and that's already a huge step.

Will we ever be perfect? Absolutely not.

There's no how-to book on this thing called life, but being the best version of yourself and trying your best is beautiful.

Dark days happen, but they teach us.

I'm hoping to trust myself going forward and I hope you trust yourself too.

Do your best, it's all we have.

You can be someone's best option and that is powerful.

Think about the people that have helped you most in your life. Was there advice perfect? Maybe it felt like it was to you, but what do you think that person was thinking. Maybe it depends on your relationship, but even then giving advice and helping someone else can be stressful and frightening, but one thing you can always do is be reliable for that person.

No matter how comfortable you are with giving advice sometimes just being there for someone makes the difference. I talk a lot about perspective and we will never truly know what is going on inside of someone's mind. They can tell you and you can trust them 100%, but we will never know for sure.

I urge you to just be there. Be in the moment when someone needs it. Like I said before, you could be their best option and that's incredible. We never know what people are going through, but don't stress or overthink the advice your giving and I'll try to continue to get better at doing the same.

Until next time, remember to Be Kind.Be Positive. and Be Yourself.
