Finding You

The lonely road traveled, nowhere to turn. You smile to hide your sadness, you smile to hide the pain. To others, you are the strength that moves the world and the glue that bonds it tightly together; but to yourself, you are just human. You feel pain, hurt, and betrayal. On the outside, you are tough as nails, but deep down inside you are fragile as a snail shell. You move through life helping other people with their problems, but when you have problems, who do you turn to? How do you ask for help when everyone comes to you? They see you as the almighty warrior, problem solver. Traveling down this lonely road of greatness to others, but to you, it’s a lonely highway, with no one to really confide in, too many serpents among you. You tried opening up to people, but they show their true colors, you think to yourself, "Damn, I knew that was serpent when I laid eyes on them." You begin to wonder, "Is everyone like this?"

Smile to hide the pain, sadness, fear, anger, and betrayal. You become an emotional wreck, on a path to self-destruction, you long for that one true person to understand you, to see you as the human you really are, and you know you are not alone, just haven’t met the person that has the same feelings as you. We continue everyday life without a care in the world, hoping that someone will see past the smile and see deeper into your soul, and know everything is not okay, and you do have fears and worries, but you keep the smile until then, and everyone keeps thinking all is well.

Today is the day—you found that person who understands you. To your surprise, it the last person you would expect. Now your smile is genuine, and the past has flown away, you no longer have strange thoughts. You have recovered from that emotional wreck you were behind closed doors, you now see life in a whole new light and aspect. You feel now that you are that almighty warrior, problem solver, all it took was a little understanding.

Smile, show your teeth, show your true self, because you have evolved into the person you wanted to be, all it took was understanding, love, trust, and an individual who has traveled the same path as you, in different shoes. Walk with your head high and never let the serpents among the world deter you from who you are. They will try and tackle you with their sly way to put you back in that lonely state, on that lonely road because they are miserable and haven’t found their peace of mind.

Smile because you are free, and can truly live without a care in the world, because you found yourself, a friend that understands you, and will not judge you. I feel for all who haven’t found their peace and are still being deterred by serpents, or who are the serpents that are deterring individuals because they haven’t found themselves.

Synopsis: the message conveyed in this piece is that we all struggle with demons, pride, and loneliness, and on our road to finding joy, we encounter people who want to deter us from being happy for their own personal reasons. We have to find ourselves it might not be today or tomorrow, but you will find yourself. The true you will shine through, and no one will be able to take that from you because you are that almighty warrior that everyone knows you are; smile today, tomorrow, and the next day, eternity because you are at peace.
