Everything Happens for a Reason

I believe we have all heard someone saying, “Everything happens for a reason,” or we have once told someone else this statement. There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. Well, it is absolutely true that everything that is happening in or around our lives happens for a reason since we live in a world of cause and effect. I believe everything happens at the right time, all we ought to do is be patient. However, we will not fully understand all that is happening around us and there are always questions in our minds about the past and the future.

Whenever something bad happens in my life, I tend or find myself questioning or wondering why is this happening to me, why me, what have I done to deserve this? I remember the year 2016, I was 19 years old and I had to stay at home doing nothing, no school or some job do to. I had to stay at home because I was rejected by more than one university. By that time, I did not know what was happening in my life or about my life. I wanted to give up and regarded myself as a failure. But then, I had to accept that I had failed to be get admitted to even a single university. Between September and October, I applied for a Learnership in one of the big hotel institutions in South Africa since I was interested in doing Tourism. In a few weeks, I received a call from the hotel telling me that I was invited for an interview. I was so happy and nervous at the same time. In two days, I went to that first interview. Guess what! I passed it and they told in to come back for the second interview. After one day, I went to the second interview.

During the interview, they asked me about my dreams and what I wanted to be in the future. I said, "My dream is to be a lawyer and I want to fight for human rights." Then they advised me to apply for university and follow my dreams because I might regret and blame myself for not following my dreams. It was sad, but now I can see that it was for the best. The rejection happened for a reason. I would not be where I am today if it was not for that rejection. It led me to a better place and career. Today, I am doing my last year in university. I am doing a degree in public administration; although I did not want to do it, I ended up falling in love with this degree. This shows that everything happens for a reason.

As young as I am, I want to reach out there and change people’s lives. But then I find myself with no resources, strength, nor power to help these poor young people out there. But hey, I believe that everything happens for a reason. The right time to help these people will come. I believe that the challenges and obstacles that I am facing in life are training me to be strong and to be a better person. As people, I believe we will never be the same, each person in this world has a purpose. All we ought to do is to find ourselves and our purpose.

Always be happy and try, by all means, to forget your problems. Forget about your past and what makes you sad. Focus on the future and believe that the future holds the best and better things for you.

My advice to you my friend is that, in everything you go through, know that is happening for a reason. You may not understand it now, but as time goes by you will absolutely understand why somethings happened back then. All you have to do is to trust the process, and believe in yourself in everything you do. Believe in yourself because confidence is the best outfit that one can wear. I believe that when people believe in themselves, they can achieve anything in this world.
