How to Create Your Brand, Your Way

Your Brand, Your Way

Ever look through Instagram and wonder how someone’s entire page flows?

Ever look at someone’s Facebook, and immediately know who posted it?

Ever see a thumbnail on YouTube, and you IMMEDIATELY know who it is? Even if they’re not in the picture!

Do you wonder HOW do they do that?

Step One of Branding

Know who you are.

This is THE absolute most important part in branding. This is what needs to be figured out before you can move forward.

Your brand reflects YOU.

Also, if you have a clear understanding of who you are, you won’t waver when the times get tough. (Because they will).

So to know what you want your brand to say, you have to have clarity about yourself.

You’re probably sitting there going “who am I”?

That’s a pretty vague question to answer right? Maybe a little overwhelming?

Let's break it down...

Start with “what is my personal style”? Do I like classy, artsy, business, sophisticated, eclectic?

Now, think about what colors you like.

Do you like bright, flashy, pastels, black and white, neon pink, Forrest green?

Take time to really think about it.

Better yet, write it down. It’s ok, I’ll be here when you get back.

It’s ok if you don’t have an immediate answer, it takes time to develop.

Having a clear idea of who you are. Will help you effectively communicate your brand....

Your brand done right

Know who you are.

we talked about this in the first portion.

Your brand reflects YOU.

I broke things down for you. So, here's the next step:

Now it’s time to go deeper...

What kinds of things do you like doing? Adventurous, household, fixing things, artistic?

What kind of decorations do you like? Girly, sporty, modern, rustic?

What kind of entertainment do you like? Movies, books, music? Comedy, thriller, documentary?

What kinds of things are you good at? Home repair, talking, drawing, helping people?

Really take some time to think these through.

CHALLENGE: make a Pinterest board of things that reflect your style!

If you don’t know what your style is, take some time to experiment. Go shopping and try on different outfits, browse Ikea, or simply look through celebrity profiles to see which ones you relate to most.

Your brand, your FEEL

Who are you?

If you’ve been following along, you’re starting to get a clearer picture of this.

The Final Thing to Think About...

The final thing to think about...

How do you want people to feel when they see your brand?

Do you want them to feel happy, like they can trust you?

Do you want them to feel empowered, rich?

Do you want them to feel excited, calm?

When you look at this picture I posted, can you see my brand?

Do you see a color theme?

Do you feel something?

Do you see a style?

When you have something to sell, for ripple buy it because of how it makes them feel, same thing with a brand.

People will start trusting a brand because of how that brand makes them feel.

Think about other posts, stories and videos you’ve seen from me.

Do they all give the same general feeling and style?

Once you figure out who you are, there will be a coherent theme.

Take some time to think about how you want people to feel with your brand, your styles & colors.

Really dig into what you are selling (whether it’s service or products) and decide what would be the right feel.

Who you are is going to play a role in creating this feeling too.

Make a post that you think reflects who you are.

Doesn’t matter what platform.
