A Thought Is All...

Open, not just your eyes, but yourself.

For me, being a storyteller is not quite the same as being a writer/author. Telling a story isn't the same as writing words on paper, or typing words on a typewriter or a computer. Telling a story and then having to put it on paper for the world to read, isn't mouth-to-ear around the campfire. You have to fill in the commons in all the right places, be sure your words are spelled accurately, and this and that. So many variables for nitpickers and criticism to bloat and goat (their) view. It is one of the most insane points of writing, but it is an adventure. What I find quite silly, actually, is that every Tom, Dick, Harry, Sue or Nancy has an opinion.

The funniest part, and yes it is comical, if you don't get reviews, you don't make the cut. If you get reviews, judgmental, because god forbid, reviewers know what they are talking about, and you don't have a brain to decide for yourself. But guess what? (You don't make the cut.) Now I have read these so-called reviews on movies, books, general skeptical ideas about a lot of things, and am never surprised, because everyone has an opinion. Why would I follow that opinion? Why would I stick my nose up to something I have no idea about? But you say, so it must be so. Oh, of course, so has so and so said the same thing. They call that "a forum" wherein, what to expect. But I say, opinions of many should never influence your thoughts. What one thousand people say they like should never sway what one person, you, yourself, should agree to. Think for yourself. Don't be those who say, "Oh, I saw the reviews, terrible. Have you read the terrible reviews—blah, blah, blah." I've heard and listened from friends, family, those standing in lines at stores gossiping who said what to what's-it-face.

In my book (that is, my understanding) we have become a society of non-thinking thinkers who think to rely too much on what others think of others. Never let anyone think for you. Never let gossip run off the tongue to your ears without first understanding what you believe you want, like, and desire. Need, really is, the ideal concept of everything. We should only take what we need, abolish greed, which, in this past decade, has scrambled the ladder to a new height of awareness. Don't let any generation of power thinkers think for you. Give everyone and everything a chance. Reach out, be brave, be bold, and be thinkers. As for reviews, leave to those who have not a brain to think for themselves. Who am I to say what you should like or dislike? Right? Then stop judging, stop placing others on the stand. Place yourself there. Yes, it's delightful when they clap and praise, but when they boo and hackle, it's a complete other story, isn't it. Be grateful you are who you are and remain who you are to be truthful to yourself.

Never become what others want you to become to satisfy their way of thinking as to what you should be. YOU can be all the things you want to be, but you have to realize it may not be what others want you to be and, THAT my friend, is where you have to step to the plate, hit the ball, and if it goes out of play, or you swing and miss, or strike out... then so be it? Get another bat. Swing at another ball. Do it until you feel like your arms are going to fall off. Until you think your heart is going to explode. Until you believe your mind is going to snap. Do it whatever it is you need to do to get you where you need to get to, so you can find YOU. Otherwise, you'll be lost forever in the masses of these lost humans who make up, sadly to say, 70 percent of this world we call Earth and home. And yes, I am being kind. It's probably more like, 90 percent. Life is short. It hops, skips, and jumps along whether you sit and stare, or run or jog, IT passes quickly without a note to remind you it is over sooner than you think. Do me a favor to do yourself a favor and everyone, everywhere, a favor. Give a smile. Get a smile. Keep a smile. Happy trails.
