5 Reasons to Smile Today

Sometimes life can be rough, but there are always reasons to smile, here is a reminder for you!

Do you ever feel like sometimes life is literally too much to handle that just thinking about smiling is exhausting?

Trust me, I get you. There have been several times in my life where I just didn't believe anymore, I lost myself and I can honestly say that I didn't love myself anymore, and that is one of the main reasons I allowed so many people to hurt me over and over again. I am sure you have heard the saying "If you don't respect yourself, how can anyone else respect you?" It is completely true, when you lose your meaning, sense of happiness, and purpose, you tend to allow a lot more negative energy than you normally would. Now, I can't say that you will never be overwhelmed again, but I can say that things will be a lot easier to deal with by simply taking control of the situation and not letting the situation take control of you.

Years ago, I allowed everything to get to me. I completely lost control, every little thing that tried to ruin my mood succeeded. One day I realized just how much my life had spiraled, I then made one of the most important decisions I could have ever made. I decided that I was no longer going to allow anyone or anything to take my life from me anymore. I have been blessed day after day, and I stoped recognizing my blessings. I couldn't allow that anymore. Right then and there I decided that I was in control, and no matter what happens I will count my blessings. Trust me, easier said than done, but when it is practiced, it is something that will start coming to you naturally and you will notice a huge difference in the way you handle situations. Being in control is the most liberating feeling there is. I am no longer a slave to my emotions. Are you ready to do the same?

Here are five reasons to smile right at this very moment even if it feels as if life is picking on you right now.

Reason # 1: You Woke Up This Morning

Pretty simple right? This one may seem a bit cliche, but when this is something you really focus on, your perspective starts to change. There were times I woke up and I didn't even know why anymore. It wasn't until I really thought about it that I started to really regain my sense of why I am here. I mean God woke me up, it must be for a reason, right? There are lives that leave this earth every day, for reasons that are beyond our understanding, but having the thought in my mind every morning "I woke up this morning, I will not let it go to waste" is something that really helped me gain control. I want you to say to yourselves "I woke up this morning and I will not let anything ruin my mood and steal this precious day from me." The more you repeat this and practice it the less you are a slave to your emotions.

Reason # 2: You Are Richer Than You Think

I am not talking about money here. Do you have someone you love and someone who loves you? Family? Friends? Significant others? Do you have a roof over your head? Food in your belly? Clothes to keep you warm? Shoes to protect your feet? Are you breathing? The ability to listen to your favorite songs? The ability to see? The ability to walk? Whether you have one or all of these things, these are things that make you rich. These are things to be grateful for. There are people in this world that would kill to be in your position. When life gets tough instead of thinking of all the bad things and worse case scenarios, I want you to think about all the good things you have. When you start to focus on the positives, you begin to feel a little more in control and the problems you are facing begin to look smaller. It is all about practicing these things, the more you do, the more control you are gaining little by little.

Reason # 3: Smiling Literally Makes You Feel Better

Have you ever tried to get mad while smiling? Ever been cut off while driving, what is the first thing you do? You may say a few naughty words at the top of your lungs or maybe you let your middle finger do all the talking, mmhmm we've all been there. Well, the next time you get cut off, I want you to smile. I dare you to try yelling and cursing with a smile on your face! Being able to just smile through the tough times will surprisingly bring you peace. The more you smile the more sunshine you spread, and I dare you to not feel somewhat accomplished when you make someone else smile. So, come on, just try this one, if not for you, do it for me! Just humor me. When those times come that try to steal your smile, please, just smile right through it, practice it. You've got a beautiful smile, go ahead, don't be afraid to use it.

Reason # 4: You Have A Purpose

Oh yes, you read that right! You have a purpose, I don't care who you are, you have been put on this earth for a reason. There is a reason you are here and why you wake up every day, there is a plan for you and you're not finished yet, that is one of the best reasons to smile! You have a purpose even if you don't know what it is yet, it will come to you in the perfect moment. If you do know your purpose, that is even more reason to smile. You have a purpose, so whenever life gets hard, situations and problems come to the surface, I want you to say to yourself "I will not let this phase me and take away my smile, for I have a purpose and I will continue on." The more you say it, the more you believe it. Say it, "I HAVE A PURPOSE!"

Reason # 5: You Are Strong and You Have Made it This Far

Read that again, say it out loud, post it where you can see it, "I AM STRONG AND I HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR." You are a lot stronger than you think. I want you to look back on all that you have gone through and I want you to rejoice in how far you've made it. I have news for you, my darling, you are still standing, that makes you strong! So when these "unbearable" or "annoying" situations present themselves, I want you to remember just how far you have made it. If you have made it this far, you can get through your situation now. Keep fighting, don't ever let life get to you so much where you allow it to steal your past victories. Think about it this way, you are being molded so you can be ready to take on your purpose just as planned. You need growth and strength, without lessons and bumps you wouldn't be able to handle it. You are strong my darling. Keep on keeping on. ♥

Now that you have read the WHY'S, I want you to write these down, post them where you can see them, put it as a calendar reminder on your phone so it can remind you right when you need it the most. Trust me, the more positivity you implement in your life the less room you have for the negative.

Thank you for reading, I hope you have an amazing day, and remember you still have time to make it wonderful! ♥
