What's one thing I know I need to work on?

HAPPY ONE WEEK!! Thank you again, to everyone following along. Or even if it's your first day jumping in to read, thank you. This first week has been more than I thought it would. I'm actually surprised at how much I've truly enjoyed this. I also thought I would've given up by now because, honestly, I usually do. This really isn't my type of thing. However, I haven't and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I'm also having a lot of fun reading the few messages I've gotten from people following along. Thank you again and keep writing! Here's my quote for the day: "Writing is like driving at night in the fog. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way." —E.L. Doctorow

DAY SEVEN: WHAT'S ONE THING I KNOW I NEED TO WORK ON?

One thing I know I need to work on, that actually keeps gnawing at me, is my time management skills. Especially being back in school, I've noticed that I have a horrible tendency to put everything off until the very last minute. I find myself up at midnight doing homework that should've been started weeks before when I actually got the assignment. It's a really awful trait to have. It's not that I don't get things done, I do. I just rush to do them at the last second. Even now, I'm writing this when I should've written it yesterday so that I could post it a normal hour.

I get things done, it only fails me every once in a while. However, it definitely adds to my stress and if I'm being honest it really does effect my daily schedule. Maybe it doesn't stress me out while I'm putting it off, but when I'm rushing to finish something, I get really stressed as I'm trying to complete it. I've done the calendar thing and set reminders for myself, but somehow I always convince myself I have more time than I actually do or that it won't take me as long as I think it will. Because of this though, I stress myself out, I miss a lot of appointments, and I'm usually asking for favors at the last second when I should've asked hours or even days before. In turn, stressing out people around me.

I know I need to work on it. I think about how I need to work on it pretty much every day. I've tried the tracker schedule but it really doesn't help. Apps don't even really seem to help me. Bullet journaling has been helping me work on it more than anything. It's still not really under control. I even put off writing in my bullet journal. But it's helping. Slowly, I'm working on it. Putting off working on my time management skills kind of makes an endless loop and I probably should make more time for myself to do this. But in turn, I would put off other things in order to work on it. Usually laundry, but things that I really shouldn't put off. Or they pile up around me. And no one likes to do eight loads of laundry in one day because you've put it off for so long. But seriously, I really do need to learn to manage my time better and make time for the important things that need to get done.

My thoughts: I think this is a great question. It forces you to look at an issue you know you have. Most of us tend to ignore the smaller issues but if we focused on them a little more we might be able to solve some of the bigger issues in our lives. This is an interesting question for self-discovery because, again, it's not something we don't already know about ourselves, but rather something we tend to put to the side. It forces us to bring them up front and look at ways to solve them.
